Darryl Smith has been a tennis coach since 1996. He is Lawn Tennis Association qualified, fully insured and a member of the British Tennis Coaches' Association.
He started his coaching career at a large tennis club, Esporta, and then opened his own tennis club in Dorset which ran very successfully for 6 years. Darryl entered teams from his club in the Dorset leagues and did exceptionally well. He also enjoyed running his own tournaments, attracting children from all over the county. Amongst his junior members were a number that he brought on from beginner to county standard. His own step-daughter was a full time member of the Dorset county team.
At the same time as coaching 250 juniors in his own club, he was the tennis coach for the Holmes Place Health Club in the Bournemouth and Poole area, where his clientele consisted mainly of adults.
Darryl sold his club which enabled him to move to Spain and continue working in the better weather. He is happy coaching any standard, from total beginner to competent player, any age from 3 upwards. He coaches either individuals or small groups of up to four players on his own. With larger gorups, such as his after-school clubs, he is assisted by his wife, Penny, who is also a qualified Lawn Tennis Association Coach.
If you haven't got a racket, there is no problem, as Darryl always carries spares, or if the strings of your own racket are broken, he can re-string it for you. Darryl is a full member of the European Racket Stringers' Association.
